Works in Process

Yippee, I am almost done with my tunic.  When I started it I hoped to have it done before Fall but now it should be done before Summer officially is started.  I have about 6 - 8 rows left to do on the collar, the bunched up part at the top and then I will be sewing up the seams. This has been so easy and fun.

These are my light purple heather socks.  I have about 1.5" more done than shows in this picture and am about to be ready to start the heel: I will be doing the FLK heel.

And here are the socks I just started this week. The color of the yarn is a dark purple heather.  Boy is it hard to see the stitches.  I plan to do a slip stitch pattern and am just hoping that I will be able to see them.

I was very happy when I finally got this embroidery done.  This is called "Owls on a Branch" by Urban Threads.  I do want to put one owl on the front of this shirt but haven't chosen one as yet.

Here in South Alabama we have been having rain.  On the day this picture was taken we got 4.5" in 2 hours:  that is the most we have had on any one day.  And we are very lucky in that it is all absorbed by the next day.  However, on the day it was raining it looked like we had waterfront property.

However, you can see that Sadie was not impressed at all by all that water.

And the puppies were also not impressed either.  This is how I start my day, with puppy play time.  What fun we have.

I will be linking with Patchwork Times.  And now, I hope everyone has a great weekend.  Gari

Fun With Needles

During the last two weeks I completed two pair of socks.  But to save time and space, I decided to only show one of each pair.  The yellow/orange pair are done with an irregular pin stripe. I really like how these irregular stripes look.  The black/white socks are knit with a Monkey pattern but it is impossible to see it due to the variegated yarn.  That's really OK since I made a lot of mistakes and they don't show either.

I am really excited about my tunic.  As you can see I have the front and back finished and am ready to start the collar.  I have everything ready to start knitting in the round but have discovered that the 40" cord is too long to bring both sides together.  I know I have size 7 needles with a 32" cord but can't find it anywhere.  In fact I can't find another set of size 7 needles at all.  So, for the time being we are at a complete stand still.

Meanwhile I am plugging along with these new socks.  I am doing a pinstripe, very easy and once again I really like the look.  I consider doing fancier patterns but then I remember that no one will see anything but a small part of the sock so why do something fancy that won't be seen.  I love knitting but I think I will hold off on fancy stitches until I want to make fancy sweater or something.

Almost Done, Etc.

My tunic is coming along nicely.  I am at the point of starting the bind off for the arm holes.  I am knitting both the front and the back at the same time so after  the bind offs I will be knitting another 10".  At that time I am told I will be joining the shoulder stitches and beginning the collar, knit in the round.  I love the colors and it is such an easy knit.

And here we are, almost done.  I have only to do a stretchy bind off and they will be ready for me to wear ........ later this fall.  I was going to do the bind off prior to writing this but found I needed to watch the video again and didn't have time tonight, so tomorrow I will get these out of the way.

And to show that old dogs can learn new tricks, here are my second FLKs and I did it without even having to watch the videos.  These should be done soon and I will have two finishes for this month which begins to make up for no finish last month.

This week begins a two week vacation for DH.  He made a very long list of "to do" things so it will be fun to see how well he does on his list.  I have to say that since I have become somewhat disabled he has taken over almost all of my household duties so he is very busy even before he made his list.  I am so very grateful to him for pitching in and taking over the load without a whimper [at least I haven't heard one,  ;-) ].

I joined a sock of the month club and received my first kit.  It is for cuff down socks (I really like toe up) and full length (I like anklet).  And the yarn came in a skein that needs winding and I don't have a swift.  I am not sure what I am  going to do: rise to the challenge or quit the club.  Decisions, decisions.

I hope everyone who reads this has a productive week and visits Patchwork times to see what other knitters are up to.  Gari
