Completions and New Projects

003
It’s a flimsy.  I am really happy with how it is looking; I just wish I could remember when I came up with this layout and decided on the fabrics for it.  As I have said before, the embroidered blocks were online swap blocks that have sat around here for a few years, the others I made as alternate blocks.  I must say that while I was putting this together I began to think that it was a might too busy but once they were all together, I really liked it.

006
I also got the binding ready and this is what it will look like once I get it quilted.  That won’t be happening this month but plan to get it on the frame in October.

And here is one other thing I finished.  This is an applique I got from Sharon at Varooman’s Quilts.  I am an Auburn graduate and an Auburn Fan and when I saw this eagle on her blog I was so excited.  I wrote her and asked if it was for sale and she let me use it.  It is something she drew herself (I sure wish I could draw) and didn’t it come out beautifully.  I will be wearing this shirt when we go to Auburn’s first  home game on the 15th.

So, you might ask, what’s on my Design Wall now.  Well, nothing.  BUT here’s what is on my Design ironing board:

First we have Teapot #2 from Rhonda.  I have the fusible ready and just have to pick out the fabrics.

Second, I also prepared the fusible for another project (new) I need to get started.  This one is pretty simple and should be fun and quick.

And third, I have pulled fabric for the Color Palette Challenge for September.  I have no idea what I will be doing with them but at least I am ready when inspiration hits, I hope.  Confused smile

And lastly I am sharing the first signs of Fall in South AL.  We get few of the bright colors that are seen in the north but every once in a while we do get a bright spot.  It is still warm down here (that’s why the pool is so comfortable each afternoon) but even here it will be much cooler soon.

Now, I am going to Patchwork Times and then to What a Hoot to see what others are sharing .  And then I am off to the studio to work on all those things you just read about, and maybe a little cleaning, too.

Chic-Chick

027
These chickens have come home to roost.  These are the first six blocks of the Funky Chicken BOM from fatcatpatterns.com.  I only have two more to make and I will be all caught up.  And I cannot tell you how much fun I have been having picking the fabrics for all the pieces.  I am hoping to be able to start some of the stitching this afternoon but first I will need to decide on thread and what stitch I will be using.

And this is what is on my main wall.  Actually, these are two sets of Christmas swap blocks that I need to get made up (2009 & 2011).  I did have some heart stopping time when I went to get both sets and could only find one.  It took me a couple of days to spot the second set.  And then, when I found it (set on the left), I found that I had already made a second set of blocks to go with them.

I have 13 of these as well as the sashing, already cut (light fabric) and borders (darker fabric).  Looks like this one is going to be pretty easy.

Now all I have to do is figure out how I am going to make the blocks on the right become a quilt.

One thing that has been keeping me out of the studio is that I have been working on EQ7 lessons.  I joined an online group that is working on the lessons that are found in the program.  I have to complete 2 lessons a week and post a picture of whatever was covered.  So far I have been able to do everything and am even a coupe weeks ahead.  It really is fun to be able to make that program work.  There are still several more lessons to work on so I have a lot more to learn. Computer

I have even less time for sewing now-a-days as I , once again, have agreed to lead a new Weight Watcher’s meeting.  The really good thing about this meeting is that it is only 5 minuets from my house so I will be able to run right back to my sewing machine.  Angel

But before I get back to my sewing, I'm going to spend a little time with Judy at Patchwork Times.  I know she will welcome you, too.
