Chic-Chick

027
These chickens have come home to roost.  These are the first six blocks of the Funky Chicken BOM from fatcatpatterns.com.  I only have two more to make and I will be all caught up.  And I cannot tell you how much fun I have been having picking the fabrics for all the pieces.  I am hoping to be able to start some of the stitching this afternoon but first I will need to decide on thread and what stitch I will be using.

And this is what is on my main wall.  Actually, these are two sets of Christmas swap blocks that I need to get made up (2009 & 2011).  I did have some heart stopping time when I went to get both sets and could only find one.  It took me a couple of days to spot the second set.  And then, when I found it (set on the left), I found that I had already made a second set of blocks to go with them.

I have 13 of these as well as the sashing, already cut (light fabric) and borders (darker fabric).  Looks like this one is going to be pretty easy.

Now all I have to do is figure out how I am going to make the blocks on the right become a quilt.

One thing that has been keeping me out of the studio is that I have been working on EQ7 lessons.  I joined an online group that is working on the lessons that are found in the program.  I have to complete 2 lessons a week and post a picture of whatever was covered.  So far I have been able to do everything and am even a coupe weeks ahead.  It really is fun to be able to make that program work.  There are still several more lessons to work on so I have a lot more to learn. Computer

I have even less time for sewing now-a-days as I , once again, have agreed to lead a new Weight Watcher’s meeting.  The really good thing about this meeting is that it is only 5 minuets from my house so I will be able to run right back to my sewing machine.  Angel

But before I get back to my sewing, I'm going to spend a little time with Judy at Patchwork Times.  I know she will welcome you, too.

ohhh I love the roosters - I'm not familiar with this BOM so its fun to see them develop! I know what you mean lessons taking time away from quilting - I've been taking a Quilt University Class and I spend a ton of time on the homework!

oooh.. love the chickens... and you've done such a good job on them. Hey, where are you taking the lessons on EQ? I should jump in a join you. well, not until I can load it on my Mac. I can't stand using it on my little netbook. Way too small and difficult to maneuver. Is that embroidery I see in your Christmas blocks?

OMGosh!! I love your Funky Chickens. They are adorable and your fabrics are just perfect. I should really take lessons about my EQ too. I dabble with it but sure don't know how to really work with it. Is it too late to start those lessons?

Great chickens!! Ditto on needing to learn more of EQ7's powers. It will be great to have Christmas quilts this year since the blocks are already done. Great eye candy all in one post! Thanks.

I am not a chicken fan (or an appliqué fan) BUT boy they are just so cute and cocky looking. I look forward to seeing the final results.

The chickens look so happy to be hanging out together like that. Each one has his own little personality and expression.

Your chicken blocks are so fun. Love the colors you've used, nice and bright.

You are making progress on getting all those blocks into quilts. That has to be a good feeling.

What is it about chickens that makes them such a good quilt subject? They are adorable.

Terrific chickens! Love their exaggerated eyes and poses mid stride. Nice to work on Christmas blocks ahead of the holiday. Hope you srike upon just the thing to make the extra set work. Someday I may EQ but haven't done it yet--good idea to participate in some group lessons.
