This is my Design “Wall” for this week. It is also my Color Pallet Challenge finish for March. And, it is the first mug rug I have made. Some of the fabrics I used were from a set of fat quarters Vickie sent me several months ago. I got the crazy quilt block from EQ7 and elongated it to be more practical.
After I sewed the the decorative stitches between the patches I marked curves on each of the patches, except one. These I used as the quilting and did it with my DSM.
After the quilting was done I put the binding on, a leftover binding from an earlier quilt. And do you see my new binding clips? When I got them on this I thought they looked like the curlers we used to use to get curls in our hair. Cool, huh?
And here it is, all done and ready for coffee.
This is the back, fabric left over from an earlier quilt. Pretty much this also matches the color challenge, don’t you think?
I also have started a new, nonquilting project, but this is as much as I can show for now. I hope to have it done before the end of the month.
And, as a final thought, I thought I would share why it takes me so long to get anything done. I took this while I was “working” on an EQ project. As you can tell, it is not easy to get anything done. And, of course, aren’t my babies beautiful?
Now, it is time to go to Patchwork Times and see all the quilting creativity going on over there.

You did a great job quilting your mug rug, and, yes, your babies are beautiful!
I really like seeing some of the color challenge projects. Lots of time colors I would never put together but they are all turning out wonderful.
Thanks for showing the process of the mug rug color challenge. You are an art quilter! Love the babies... but they do tend to want to be your primary focus if they are anything like my dogs. OOH embroidery... what brand do you have? I just got one and have not figured it out ... and really haven't had time to figure it out... sigh. Looks like a golf course at this point...
Love the mug rug!! The computer *weights* are so very very cute!!
I love your color challenge mug rug, especially your use of the grey tones. And you've finished it up before the month is hardly begun!!
Nice work on getting the color challenge finished and you'll love your mug rug--I have several sitting at different places through the house!
That is a gorgeous mug rug!! Wow! And the curlers are cute :)
Such pretty babes indeed!!
Your mug quilt is such fun!
Have a great day,
Always, Queenie
Thats a great mug rug - it does follow the palette so well!! Great job
Love the block for the mug rug. And the doxie. Our cat sleeps on the keyboard when we type. And gets mad if we have to use those letters......

Great idea to make a mug rug for the challenge. It turned out great and I'm glad you were able to use some of the hand dyed fabrics.
I love this! I have a weakness for hand dyed fabrics:)
Beautiful babies!
