Quilting and Family

Step 3 done
I don’t believe it, but I am still all caught up with Easy Street.  I will say that even though some people may not think that 2” pieces are not small, they seem pretty small to me.  And to sew the bias edges, over and over and over again, is really tedious.  However, this Step 3 came out Friday, I had the pieces all cut Saturday and all sewn Sunday.

Step 3 segment
64 of these segmants
and we still don’t have any idea what we will be doing with them.

12 Funky Chickens
But this is what is on my design wall today: all 12 Funky Chickens.  I am so in love with these chickens, they may just live on that wall for the next month.

Funky Chicken #12
And here is Chicken #12.  Isn’t she pretty?  I hear her saying “Don’t tell me I am the last one!”

Teapot #5
And the last thing I got done last week was December’s Teapot.  I have had this fat quarter of fabric for a long time and love it for a teapot.  I wish I had more of it: I can see that it would work great on a kids quilt.  Oh, well.

Family:
019
On Thursday our daughter received her pin for completing RN school.  She has been working as an LPN for the past 3 years and soon, after taking and passing the Nursing Board exam, she will begin her career as an RN.  We are so proud of her!

Nurse done
I made her this quilt as a graduation gift and surprised her with it at the graduation.

Nurse quilting closeup
I bought the nurse fabric when she started back to school but didn’t start the quilt until this last semester.

Nurse minky quilting 2
And, this was the first time I have quilted with Minky fabric and it quilted like a dream.

I am linking up with Patchwork Times, What a Hoot, and Quiltville
Have a great week.  Gari

Once again I love those funky chickens. You have done a great job on them. And, wow, does this mean you've actually kept up with the bom? I'm so impressed. I don't seem to be able to do that. Congratulations to your daughter. My goddaughter is slowly working toward an rn degree. I sure hope she succeeds too. Wow, you whipped through Clue #3.

You go on Easy Street!! :D And your chicken and teapot (love that fabric!) are as total fun as always. It'll be a lot of fun to see what the chickens do now. Big CONGRATS to your daughter! That's a lot of work. The quilt you made is terrific.

Great post! Love your colours for the mystery...and the graduation quilt is a perfect gift for such an accomplishment!
Lastly...I adore your chickens...they have some attitude! Will they have their names on the quilt?! Maybe each one
could have her name embroidered on her block?

Congrats to your DS. It is esp. gratifying when we have watched our children struggle to achieve their goals.
I adore your chickens, loving the fabrics you used but I don't like applique nearly enough to follow you!
Your Easy Street is SO different , I barely recognized it, Gari

Gari, your chickens are so colorful. Love the quilt you made for your deserving daughter. Congrats to her on that accomplishment. She's in the right profession since there are so many baby boomers coming along. I wish I were caught up on Easy street, but life interfered again this last weekend. Maybe after the next week, I'll get back to it.

What a great graduation gift! I'm doing nursing at university next year - in my early 50's! Congrats for your daughter. Those chickens are to die for - SO CUTE! Well done on the Mystery pieces too - I like that it really is easier than the earlier ones.

Hi! My daughter is also an LPN working on her RN, and we're both doing an Easy Street quilt this year. She managed working, straight 'A's, and the quilt -- which I think is pretty good.
