On the Design Wall was Henrietta Whiskers, a Bunny Hill BOM. The center was completed over a year ago and then put on my “completed” rack. Every time I saw it I thought it was ready for quilting so on Saturday I took it off to measure so I could prepare the backing. Was I ever surprised to find that it only had two borders sewn on. So up on the design wall it went. And, then I said “what was I thinking?” I love orange but it just didn’t look good with this top. So off they came and I started thinking up a new plan.
I found these two fabrics to join with the orange. The plan: small darker border, orange border and then the wood like border.
However after putting the first little (1”) border on I decided the quilt was finished. It is the perfect size for a wall hanging and I have the perfect wall for it.
I already had the backing fabric so before I could overthink it, off to the frame it all went. I didn’t start the quilting but will this week.
I did spend some time at the sewing machine and got all the applique sewn down on the Owl wall hanging. It will probably be the next thing on the frame.
I found some time to enjoy my quilter’s hammock.
And even time for Abby who, every morning, pokes her head out of a quilt to ask if it is time to get up.
Hope everyone has a great week. Gari

I guess the quilt knew what it needed all along, but was waiting for you to change the borders!?! Adorable photo of Abby!
Hi Gari. Love your post. Henrietta is looking great. I love all the beautiful colors in this quilt.
I dedicated a block to you today hope you get a chance to see it.
Have a great week!!
Love the backing fabric!! Cute quilt! I too have a Bunny Hill top to quilt but older one! ;-)Love the hammock and that sweet lil face peeking out of the quilt! I so miss having a sweet pup. DH is just not ready yet. Still missing his sweet lil beagle gal Sadie.
You know the orange wasn't all that bad - it just gives a whole different feel to the quilt.
Of course all your quilty project are lovely, but it's Abby that stole my heart. Such a cutie!
I really like the new border better than the orange. Good choice.
Sometimes it pays to wait to finish a project! The border solution looks great. And I love the backing fabric.
What a great quilt! Love it.
I too like the new border better. It took me a minute to realize you have acorns on the backing fabric. What a hoot! A fun quilt all around.
I had a date with Jack the Ripper this past weekend too. Sometimes quilts don't need elaborate borders.
I really like how the darker border frames the quilt. Great acorn backing fabric :)
Beautiful quilt. I love Bunny Hill. I'm doing a bunny redwork.
Just got back from almost a week in Paducah at the AQS show and am trying to catch up on reading blogs. I like your new border on the quilt and glad you rethunk it! Abby sure looks cozy too. so cute.
Catching up on your blog. I had to read from the beginning and then way back to here. I have so enjoyed the Owls, Henrietta, Barns, your quilting on the HQ and everything in between. Looking forward to more ;-)
