Knitting My Life Away

back is coming alongI am growing more and more excited about this sweater.  I am only about 10” in on the first piece but I am loving the texture as well as the lavender heather yarn.  I am enjoying this so much that I have abandoned my brown sweater (lots of mistakes) and now plan to rip it out and start over, later.  I really don’t mind since I am enjoying the act of knitting so much.

wrong sideAnd don’t you love the “wrong side” of this piece?  I am trying to figure out how to use it on the right side, maybe as a band on the sleeves.  I am thinking that I can knit both sleeves at the same time and thus there is a better chance they will be the same length.  Smile with tongue out

almost to the heelsI haven’t neglected my gray socks: I am almost ready to do the heels.  Once I have that done I will go ahead and get the bright yarn for the next pair cuz I only do short legs and cuffs so these will be done quickly.  Or I may just get more needles and start the others right away.  I would like to have socks going both in the house and the studio.

I got the results from the MRI and let me share one line I was “amused” by:  “There is diffuse disc desiccation and facet joint DJD compatible with age.”  That was really unnecessary, I think.  And I didn’t know what DJD means (will find out next week).  But the gist is that I have a pinched nerve due to disc bulges.  Now I just have to find out which of the several possibilities we can do to relieve me of this problem.  After that we will tackle the second of the three body breaking down problems that I have.  Sometimes it’s no fun getting old.  Shifty

Have a great Labor Day weekend.  We are celebrating being retired from paid labor while still able to labor in the fields for our Lord.   Gari

At last, something I DO know... DJD = "Degenerative Joint Disease"... that's what they called it when my knee went wonky... Otherwise known as "arthritis"... Of course, the joints in your spine are a bit different from knees. Will be praying for good outcomes!

Your sweater and socks are coming along nicely. The "wrong" side of your sweater does look cool! I agree about trying to incorporate some of the "wrong" side stitching into the sleeves. My mother says getting old is not for sissies! (I think Mae West said it originally!) Anyway... good luck with your medical issues.

The sweater is looking good.

Being a high mileage model is not for wimps most certainly. Hope they can find a good solution to address the MRI mumbo jumbo.

Your sweater is coming along so beautifully. My mother was a beautiful knitter. She can no longer knit now but still does with her fingers in her sleep. Sending you positive energy~~~
