Scraps and Quilting

scrappy log cabins
Moving right along.  Every time I got tired of quilting on Henrietta I would work on these blocks.  Now they are done and I have begun adding the sashing.

Henrietta quilted
And, Henrietta is quilted  (earlier individual blocks can be seen here).

block 7 (2)When I had all that empty space it was really hard to not quilt feathers.  Funny thing is that once I learned how to quilt them I want to put them on everything.  Flirt male

block 8

I did little freemotion shingles on the roof and curtains on the windows.

block 9And this is the last block.  I put a vine of leaves, lots of different leaves, to go with the acorn.
Today I hope to get the binding on so it can get hung before the end of the month.

Lots of people have been making lists of UFOs, WIPs, etc., but I don’t because I hate to feel pushed by my project friends.  However, what has happened is that they, along with scraps, have taken over my studio and there is no space to work anymore.

So…..on May 1st I am taking a week long break from sewing/quilting and I am going to devote my time to cleaning

Part of my plan is to relocate all non-quilting fabrics to free-up space for quilting stash.  If I get a lot done, I think I will put in some time sorting my scraps.

I will be linking up with Patchwork Times so everyone can see all the wonderful work quilters around the world are working on.

Have a great week,  Gari

Love your Henrietta quilt. The details that you quilted in are marvelous. And what a good idea about taking time to clean the old sewing room. I think I might just join in and do the same. I the moment I'm in two different areas of the house and walking back and forth is getting old.
Happy Monday!!

LOL. I cleaned last week and did no quilting! It is better, but not even close to clean. I love the Henrietta quilt. So nice.

I like Henrietta -- and I *really* like the scrappy log cabins, with that subtle green stripe.

You go girl! Henrietta's quilting looks great. I love the free motion work you show. Figuring out the quilting is often difficult for me. I wish you great perseverance on getting some cleaning done in the studio. My day of reckoning is coming as I have a new studio coming in the next several months. The move will be overwhelming! I'll check back with you and try to be your personal cheerleader! Go, go! Clean Clean, next week you can sew again! (Yikes, chants aren't my thing evidently!)

I know how you feel about feathers. I have to watch myself because I love to quilt them also. I really like the variety of quilting you did on Henrietta.

The Henrietta whiskers is just wonderful. I love all the different fills you used. I know what you meaning about cleaning. I have a boat load of strings all over the sewing room and it's driving me crazy. Not crazy enough to finish that quilt or actually resort to cleaning, but I know it's not far off. Good luck with your cleaning :)

You did a wonderful job with your quilting. Henrietta looks so cute. I too need to stop and clean my sewing area. It would be nice to re-organize it too, but that would take too long and I have deadlines to meet this month. Good luck to you on your cleaning.

Oh my, your quilting is wonderful, it really is frosting on the cake. I wonder how long did you practice to get to this point of being able to FMQ so well?
That's a great idea to have a piecing project for when you need a break from quilting at the frame ;-)
